The Breakthrough Squad represents the highest stage of our EDFA player pathway, with its primary aim to provide a direct route into Albion Sports U23s, managed by Sam and George. This alignment ensures our top players have a clear and structured pathway into senior football within the Albion setup.

 

Albion U23s – The First Step in Senior Football

With Sam and George at the helm of Albion’s U23 side, the Breakthrough Squad is now directly connected to opportunities within the club. This creates a seamless transition for our players, bridging the gap between youth football and the demands of the senior game. Players in the Breakthrough Squad are prepared not only to step into Albion U23s but also to push on further within the club’s senior structure.

 

Additional Pathways Beyond Albion

While the core focus is progression into Albion U23s, we also recognise that players’ journeys can take different routes. The Breakthrough Squad offers exposure to other high-level opportunities, including:

 

• Semi-Professional Football:

  Through our strong network across the football industry, we provide players with platforms to showcase their ability, offering meaningful chances to transition from academy or grassroots football into the senior game.

• USA College Soccer – A Life-Changing Option:

  In partnership with SRUSA, players also have the chance to pursue the U.S. college pathway, combining elite-level soccer with a world-class education. With first-hand experience of this route, Sam and George know the transformative impact it can have. Players gain access to:

Who Is the Breakthrough Squad For?

This programme is designed for players transitioning out of professional academies or ambitious grassroots players performing at the highest levels. Entry is by selection and trial, beginning from U15 level in our elite programmes

Our Elite Training Programme is built to challenge, inspire, and elevate players through a blend of technical and game related scenarios, delivered in creative, high intensity sessions. Every session is designed to challenge the player’s all round game, technically, tactically, physically, and mentally. This is more than just training. It’s a launchpad for future success.

 

Pathways to the Next Level

Players involved in this programme gain access to some of the most exciting pathways in the game:

• Professional football through our direct partnership with Bradford City.

Semi professional football through our partnership with Albion Sports.

• From U16s and up, a clear route into semi-professional football or U.S. college soccer via our trusted partnership with SRUSA.

• A chance to progress into our prestigious Breakthrough Squad at U15 level, for those who meet the performance standards.

 

This programme is designed for ambitious, driven players who are serious about their development and committed to taking the next step in their football journey. Those with the right ability and attitude will be identified and given opportunities to progress into the next stage of our pathway, and potentially, much further.

Our Technical Programme is designed more specifically for foundation stage players (U5–U10), focusing on developing a good base for success through clever technical practices and that progress into innovative, game related scenarios.

 

At the heart of each session is a commitment to technical excellence, with every activity built to enhance ball mastery, decision making, and confidence on the ball.

 

Inspired by the Best

Each month, players will explore a creative training theme based on world class footballers renowned for their technical brilliance, bringing inspiration and imagination to every session.

 

Pathway to Progression

This programme is the first step in our player pathway and provides a direct route into our Elite Training Programme. Standout players will also have the opportunity to progress towards professional football through our official partnership with Bradford City.
